Happy Memorial Day!
Every Memorial Day weekend we perform the Hero tribute workout “Murph” to remember a man who bravely gave his life to help save his fellow soldiers, and to remember all the men and women who gave their lives for our country.
Michael P. Murphy, A.K.A MURPH, a SEAL from Patchogue, N.Y., earned the Medal of Honor for actions he took to help save his team during a reconnaissance mission in Afghanistan, June 28, 2005. Murphy was killed while fighting enemy forces.
The workout consists of a mile run, followed by 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, and 300 squats, and finishes off with another mile run. Murphy completed this workout with a 20lb weight vest on. As we perform this difficult workout each year, we think of how our temporary lack of comfort during MURPH pails in comparison to what Michael Murphy and others went through for us.
God Bless the people and their families who sacrificed so much for our freedoms. May we never forget what you’ve done for us.
